Every Work of Art is a Breath of the Soul: A Journey Through Time
There are times in our existence when a reprieve from the incessant demands of daily life feels like an unforgivable expenditure of time. We become fixated on productivity, convinced that any moment not actively dedicated to work, to the tangible creation of something real and substantial, is a moment tragically wasted.
Reflecting on my own journey, I recognize how frequently I fell prey to this narrow perspective. Today, however, hindsight offers a different view. With the passage of time, the wisdom gleaned from countless books, and the insights borrowed from minds far more profound than my own, I understand that the past is a trail we leave behind us. There is no value in regretting a single instant. Every experience, every decision made yesterday—whether a sound choice or a misstep—has inexorably shaped the person standing here today. Could we have found the love and connection we cherish now had we altered a single one of those foundational choices?
I used to dwell on certain decisions, made impulsively, with a heavy heart. Now I grasp that without them, my life’s trajectory would be vastly different. I might be in an easier place, or on another continent entirely. Yet, surrounded by the people who form the core of my world, I realize with certainty that I would not change a single thing.
Vivian Greene’s enduring wisdom reminds us: “Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.” Our charge, then, is to embrace life fully, to live vibrant and present lives even as the tempests of hardship rage around us, hurling their lightning from the heavens. For without fail, the fury of the storm always gives way to a profound and necessary calm.
